I had a fantastic stay at this hotel located in a stunning 350-year-old castle close to magnificent Oybin. The hotel facilities were top-notch, with modern and comfortable rooms that even had a nice patio. The cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable. The breakfast buffet was delicious, with a great variety of options, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I also appreciated the easy parking and the fact that there was a small park with a lake and benches where you could relax.

There was nothing I didn't like.

I booked rooms in the old part of the hotel but we were given rooms in the new part.

The location of the Hotel is perfect for crossing the myriad of borders into Poland & the Czech Republic from Germany and exploring Mini Switzerland too.The Restaurant and Cocktail Bar are in the original part of the building and both good. The grounds are somewhat smaller than expected with private houses 'next door'. Personally we did not like the way the new part of the Hotel and reception had been designed but that said our stay was enjoyable and the service was good. If you were to stay in the original part of the hotel you may have a different experience. A tip if not. Ask for a room away from Reception, their layout means you'd get all guests walking past your room en route their own if you are on the ground floor. Tip! We asked reception for a nearby alternative to eat one evening and the chap on duty couldn't think of anywhere! However, we easily found a lovely Gasthaus/Restaurant 5 mins up the road in the beautiful Bertsdorf Village (you could walk) It was called Gasthaus Felsenkeller - Schaenkgasse 3, 02763, Bertsdorf. Traditional food & setting, not much English spoken but friendly and food was excellent value and all freshly cooked to order.

Pillows! Thin and small, towels were also well past their best and small. No complimentary water in the room, this, sadly, is becoming a common trait in Hotels. No Tea & Coffee facilities in the room either but we always carry our own outside of the uk. We used the Sauna area which was sparse but adequate (we'd expected more given the type of establishment) but the solarium was out of use and not made known until we tried to book it.

During my Christmas stay, there were several aspects of the hotel that I really enjoyed. the hotel offered very good and easy parking, which was a huge relief as I had driven to the location. the hotel had a small park with a lake and benches, creating a lovely atmosphere to relax in. I especially enjoyed the presence of a few animals in the park, as it added a unique touch to the experience. Lastly, the breakfast at the hotel was exceptional, particularly the wide selection of teas that were available. It was a delightful way to start my day.

There were a few aspects of my stay that could have been better. the sauna facilities could get quite crowded at times, which made it difficult to fully enjoy the experience.
